Denise Ayebare is 21 years old, a climate activist from Uganda who has studied International Relations, Legal studies, and Corruption in context: of political, social, and Economic aspects. She is pursuing LAW with a focus on Environmental Law at Makerere University. She is a passionate climate advocate who is serving as the Youth Presidential Advisor on Climate Change she has worked as a researcher and has worked alongside Professor Eduardo Pierira to publish articles about Climate Justice and Energy Justice, she is a multiple award-winning speaker and champion for youth engagement in policy and decision-making processes. She was currently awarded by the Global Green Growth Institute and GIZ Uganda as the Climate Activist of the Year 2024 alongside her multiple speaking awards by different entities. Committed to advancing climate action and justice, Denise was appointed a climate youth negotiator to the UNFCCC from the African bloc as the youngest Negotiator in 2023. She was also recognized among the Top 40 Under 40 by Uganda’s Top Newspaper 2024, Top 30 LAW students in Eastern Africa by Lawverse Magazine in Nigeria.

She uses her public speech skills to influence high-level policies. As the Prime Minister of the 5th National Youth Parliament in Uganda, she advocated for the prioritization of climate action. Denise leads several climate education initiatives at various organizations like the National Youth Council Uganda, and A New Bold Vision, She served as the Projects Manager at Cherish Aid Foundation, where she successfully oversaw the installation of over 48 biogas plants in Western Uganda. This groundbreaking initiative significantly reduced dependency on charcoal and mitigated deforestation, bringing tangible benefits to local communities. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she spearheaded the installation of boreholes across the districts of Eastern Uganda under Water Aid, addressing water-related challenges and supporting girls' education. Denise is a fellow of Akina Mama was Afrika Eco Feminist Program, Global Changemakers, African Negotiators Group Solutions, Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice, Climate Vulnerable Fellowship & Sigma Squared.

Mission

Ayebare Denise, 21, is a global climate activist from Uganda. She has represented youth at COP28, COP27, Stockholm+50, and SB58, advocating for climate justice and sustainability on the international stage. She has given several keynote addresses at the Doha Youth Forum, Asia Sustainable Day and many others.

As the 5th Prime Minister of the National Youth Parliament Uganda, Ayebere played a key role in shaping youth policies and initiatives at the national level. She has also been recognized for her leadership as a Youth Climate Action Negotiator at UNFCCC, where she has been instrumental in advancing youth perspectives in international climate negotiations.

Her dynamic and inspiring talks cover a wide range of topics, including climate change, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.

In addition to her advocacy work, Ayebare is the founder of A Better Life International Organization dedicated to improving the lives of young people in Uganda and beyond. Through A Better Life, she leads initiatives focused on renewable energy, waste management, climate education, health, and economic empowerment, helping to create opportunities for disadvantaged youth to thrive.
